The syllabus

- Application, and a check of the prerequisites - an active NSE 4, NSE 5 or NSE 6, and NSE 7 in the same track
- Mapping your field experience against the Core exam and the electives
- A personal preparation plan and the group's schedule
- Fortinet NSE 8 - Core Practical Exam, on-site at selected Fortinet offices and events
- One elective practical exam - Secure Networking, Application Security or Security Operations - on-site or online proctored by ProctorU
- Valid two years from the second exam; renewal with 200 activity points, or with the NSE 8 - Recertification Exam, available until January 31, 2027
- Full estates on FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer platforms, built and changed against the clock
- SD-WAN, dynamic routing and advanced IPsec from the level of the NSE 7 exam upward
- FortiSwitch switches and FortiAP access points inside the same design
- FortiAnalyzer, FortiSIEM and FortiSOAR platforms working one incident end to end
- Detection, investigation and automated response, against the clock
- The NSE 7 Security Operations Architect level as the starting point
- Full-length practical sessions, against the clock
- Review of the work with senior engineers from the group's own teams
- A second pass on whatever did not hold
- Registering for the Core exam and choosing its venue

Prerequisites
By application: an active NSE 4, NSE 5 or NSE 6 in any track and NSE 7 in the track you will sit - Fortinet's own prerequisites for the NSE 8 exams - plus years of hands-on work on a Fortinet estate.
The exam and the certification
NSE 8 is earned with two practical exams: Fortinet NSE 8 - Core Practical Exam, delivered on-site at selected Fortinet offices and events, and one elective - Fortinet NSE 8 - Secure Networking Practical Exam, Fortinet NSE 8 - Application Security Practical Exam or Fortinet NSE 8 - Security Operations Practical Exam - on-site or online proctored by ProctorU. Fortinet requires an active NSE 4, NSE 5 or NSE 6 in any track and NSE 7 in the same track. The certification is valid for two years from the second exam and is renewed with 200 activity points while the prerequisites are active, or with the NSE 8 - Recertification Exam, available until January 31, 2027. The academy prepares candidates for both exams.

Validity

The labs
The whole rack and the whole virtual lab, at once: FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch switches and FortiAP access points from the rack, with FortiGate VMs and the FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSIEM and FortiSOAR lab environments of the course around them. You build, change and repair a full estate against the clock, alone, and then walk through each decision in the review.
